1970’s Swimming Pool Conversion into a Natural Swimming Pond – Newport, Wales
We were recently asked if we could convert an old 1970’s swimming pool near Newport, Wales, that no longer held water. After exchanging photos and ideas with the client, agreeing a price, and visiting the site to see it in person, we began planning the transformation.
Being so close to our base, we were able to travel daily to complete the pool-to-pond conversion. Thanks to our wonderfully accommodating clients — and a friendly neighbour with a tractor — the project was completed in just over a month.
Like many of our projects, the design evolved as we worked. The original budget didn’t allow for the planned decking and jetty, but using some spare sleepers we created a temporary deck and jetty combination. This will eventually be replaced with a full wrap-around deck, adding even more charm to the pond area.
All plants were supplied by our friends at Anglo Aquatics, and within just two weeks of completion the water had already turned beautifully clear.
This natural swimming pond conversion not only brought new life to a redundant pool but also created a stunning, eco-friendly space for swimming and relaxing.
We even have an open invitation to visit and swim whenever we’re passing!
