Hertfordshire Swimming Lake

It’s who you know? We were contacted by the client to see if we could help line their new swimming lake, following a recommendation by Bestique studio who had worked with us before. They were in the throes of creating a new home, wanted a swimming lake and needed to landscape the surrounding grounds. As the area is totally flat, and with renewable energy in mind, the spoil from the lake formed mounds on which solar panels were hidden on the back-side. Unique and amazing!

Upon agreeing the design spec and price, we were asked if we knew of a trusted groundworker who could undertake the bigger landscaping picture. Sure – we recommended Gardenlink – who we met at our Wantage wildlife pond project and, long story short, hole created!

Storm Bert got in the way just before arrival so we had some water to pump out before lining the pond. There were also issues with the supply of liner (no stocks in Europe), so we converted this project from Elevate PondGard EPDM to SealEco Thermobond EPDM which has zero waste by virtue of very clever, bespoke build process in the factory, prior to delivery.

We look forward to returning to this project in Spring 2025 to aquatically plant the lake, and then future visits to see it mature and settle in.
